Welcome

Welcome
Take a peak into our classroom!

All About Mrs. Pickett

I am so excited to begin my second year with the Cure' family as a teacher!  I was very fortunate to begin my school and faith based journey at Cure' just like you.  After my Cure' graduation I went on to Sion for high school, and was off to college at Mizzou! MIZ-ZOU!! In 2006 I graduated with a undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. After graduation I went to Pleasant Hill R-III School District where I taught for 9 years. In 2011 I received a Masters in Education from Baker University in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have taught third grade for 10 years and am excited to begin the next decade as a fifth grade teacher.

While my students, classroom, and professional life are a big piece of my life, I also have some personal interests that fill my time.  My big family is very important to me! I come from a family of four, my oldest sister Angela, is married with two beautiful girls and my younger sister (who you probably know.. Mrs. Allen!) had her first child last August!  I also have another little sister Abby, who may come by and visit us sometimes.

Two years ago I started my journey as a wife and mother.  On July 5, 2014 I married Mr. Pickett. Last  He is a pretty cool guy who loves to make robots, machines, and printers. An most recently, we added a little bundle of joy to our household, Miss Penelope Sage Pickett came into our lives on July 3, 2016 and we are over the moon in love with our little lady.

Some of my favorite things to do with my family and friends include going to the movies, and scrap-booking. You can find some of my new creations over on my personal blog The Diary of A Crafty Teacher!  When Mr. Pickett and I aren't running around town, we like to enjoy some cuddles Penelope and our furry friend Izzy who has become a great big sister!

We have also recently taken up scuba diving over the last few years.  We have been able to dive through ship wrecks, coral reefs and even shark feedings! Two years ago, on our honeymoon, Mr. Pickett and I were able to watch a shark feeding underwater. It was very scary, but the sharks were so nice and they didn't even know we were there! Ask me more about this in class and I will tell you all about it!

Some of my favorite goodies include polka dots, Diet Dr. Pepper, diet cherry lime aids, jalapeno chips, gummy bears, red starburst, and Twizzlers! !!

I also enjoy running in various races and staying fit.  I have completed 1 half marathon (13.1 miles! YIKES) and several triathlons and 5k's.  Right now I don't have any races on the books, but I am sure I will get some on there soon!

I am so excited to get to know you in the next few weeks as we begin gearing up for school!  Feel free to join our Pickett Pal's family on facebook, and instagram to keep up on what's happening in the classroom!  We love to open our classroom up to family members in hopes that you can catch a glimpse of our learning!
