We are gearing up for another full week of school.  Students are working hard on various projects in the classroom.
In math, students are learning about estimating, comparing and ordering fractions.  To practice this skill, they have become stock brokers investing $3,000 in stocks this week!  In reading we will finish up our studies on characters and settings, take our first reading assessment (together) and continue working on our presentations for survival on earth in a post apocalyptic society.  It’s going to be a busy and fast week!
Grade Reports
Now that we have been in school for a few weeks, I would encourage you to spend some time checking out your child’s grade reports.  I plan on having grades updated on my end by the end of this week.  Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any assignments posted.
Supplies Needed
In Science we are conducting an experiment early next week and are in need of empty containers.  This might include plastic disposable water bottles and 2L empty soda containers.  If you have any of these items lying around we will take them off of your hands!
We are also in need of MANY balloons that can be used and disposed of.  Let me know if you are interested in donating any of the above items!  Thank you.
WSQ and Video
Students will have two video assignments this week.  I would love to hear how things are going on your end.  Please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, feelings, or comments regarding the flipped videos.  I welcome all suggestions to improve instruction.
Uniforms
We are still working on uniforms in our classroom, specifically socks.  Please be sure your child is wearing ankle socks (above their shoes) to school each day.  If your child does not have the appropriate socks, they will be asked to go to the nurse to receive a new pair.
Fall Cleaning…
Have you gotten the itch to clean out the toy boxes or get in touch with the newest technology out there? Our classroom would love your old items!
We are looking to add to our lego collection, if you or your family is planning on getting rid of any lego sets or pieces, we would gladly take them off of your hands.
We are also looking for old (or new J) cell phones, tablets, cameras, video cameras or any smart devices that you would be willing to donate to our classroom learning.  These items would allow students to create, innovate, research, and design digital presentations and projects in the classroom.   While I understand these items could still hold personal information,  I can show you how to delete all information stored on the device prior to donation.  I am also happy to delete and restore to factory settings once the items has been donated.
